We welcome you to the official Hanmudo Bladel website. First of all you are currently visiting the English version of our site, please keep in mind that this website provides less information than our official Dutch website because we simply can't maintain two websites. You can always choose to visit the official Dutch website instead.

Through this website we try to inform you about the relatively young martial art of Hanmudo. We also want to keep our members informed about the latest club news and events. We put a lot of time and effort into creating this website, we hope you will enjoy exploring our site.

What is Hanmudo?

Han Mu Do is a comprehensive martial arts system. This system encompasses the study of empty hand, weapons, and ki techniques; as well as the study of martial arts philosophy. The techniques in Han Mu Do have been developed so that they can be used without the need of physical strength.

After more than forty years of training and research into the many systems of Korean martial arts, Dr. He Young Kimm created Han Mu Do in 1989. A true martial arts scholar, Dr. Kimm sought to integrate the techniques and philosophies of these styles; most of which were founded in the 1950's. With these new and innovative techniques, Dr. Kimm has developed a single, comprehensive, and balanced system.

Han Mu Do is recognized and registered by the Korean government (reg. no. 534) as a traditional Korean Martial Art. Han means Korea (nation of optimism), Mu means Martial Arts, and Do means The Way. Together, Han Mu Do means "The Way of Korean Martial Arts."
